NAPLES RIVER PARK AQUATIC CENTER

Project Description

NAPLES RIVER PARK AQUATIC CENTER

River Park is one of Naples oldest neighborhoods, developed in the 1960s as a segregated neighborhood to house black workers, it is still home to a majority of African American residents.  An existing pool on the site has reached the end of its useful life.  The complex is a neighborhood aquatic facility located adjacent to low scale apartment buildings, and to an existing Community Center. Multiple community meetings were held to establish the aquatic program elements within the extremely tight budget.  The main entry building houses the lifeguard office, ticket booth, storage, kitchen, pump equipment, and a double height covered entry. The bath house building has a large, open covered area and includes men, women, and family restrooms, showers, and locker areas.  The new pool consists of a six lane lap pool, a learn-to-swim area, and a zero entry area with a large play feature.
