MECZAL MEXICAN CUISINE AND MEZCAL
MECZAL MEXICAN CUISINE AND MEZCAL
Some of the best cuisine in the world is found in the State of Oaxaca, Mexico. The owner’s objective is to create a venue to showcase the food and drink of Oaxaca. The project includes five separate settings within one building; casual dining restaurant, casual bar, fine dining restaurant, private dining and a rooftop terrace bar. Located on the corner of Le Jeune Road and Miracle Mile in Coral Gables the restaurant sits on a prominent site directly across from City Hall. The location responds to the adjacent buildings and the exterior walls are a combination of coral stone and stucco. The simple façade has references to Oaxacan colonial architecture, the five openings are deeply recessed with wood shutters. The six large doors which close of the triangular courtyard are inspired by the oversized wood doors found in Spanish colonial architecture. The courtyard will be paved with the same stone floor from the City owned exterior plaza to allow the two spaces to flow together.
